_______________

WHY WE'RE SHARING

Because Rockwood doesn't. The community's perception of issues is based on information they know.

Among the information Rockwood and local news media haven't told you:

THREATS?
Although headlines stated parents made death threats against Rockwood employees, to date, no evidence has surfaced.

RESIGNED BECAUSE OF PARENTS?
Although news reports indicated that former administrators resigned due to challenges from parents, they do not include that one (Aisha Grace) resigned after she was charged with a DWI and was not at work for much of the 2022-2023 school year. She has since had that charge removed from her record. They also do not state that the other (Paul Northington) oversaw an administrator who submitted questionable contracts.

News reports indicated Dr. Terry Harris resigned due to a lack of support and racial harassment. They did not state that he resigned after years of submitting questionable, no-bid contracts and was serving on the board of directors for one of those companies when it first started getting Rockwood contracts.
_______________

TO CORRECT FALSE NARRATIVES
USUALLY LANGUAGE ARTS CLASS, NOT HISTORY CLASS
You'll see that the vast majority of concerns pertain to language arts lessons; not history classes, as we often hear.

Note on teaching history:
We fully support and expect the district to teach the history of our country; the good and the bad. Our children need to know about slavery and Jim Crow laws. They do not need books or assignments that perpetuate the ongoing narrative that says whether you succeed or not depends on your race and gender. That is telling them what to think, instead of how to think. It is not helping them be more proficient in core subjects.

Topics pertaining to privilege, oppression and gender identity are not academics.
They are not in Missouri's learning standards
