WHAT'S HERE
This blog is a compilation of verified documents, images, lesson materials, books, and teacher training details. They were all discovered by parents who were concerned about what their children were being taught, or through records requests.
Each key word will pull up all the posts that fall under that topic.
See below for more on how this blog came to be.
PAGES on this site
AGENDA VS ACADEMICS
These posts point out where agenda gets in the way of standard academics in Rockwood.
BIASED BOOKS
Anti-police themes and other content that is conveying a message that is one sided.
LESSON CONTENT
Used as a label instead of a page, this designates content or materials used in actual class lessons.
This was TAUGHT to students in core classes, just like multiplication tables or punctuation.
SCORES DOWN
MAP scores have dropped in Rockwood; see the details.
SEXUAL CONTENT
Rockwood library books with word descriptions or graphic/picture illustrations of people engaged in sex acts. These are defended by the district because they are written by authors who provide a "diverse" perspective.
TEACHER TRAINING
Examples of teacher seminars and resources that emphasize racism, social justice, and negative messages about our country and its institutions, including law enforcement and schools.

More about this blog:
Personal opinions about topics in lessons and books are not the force behind sharing this information. Parents just want the district to stick to academics, and topics pertaining to privilege, oppression and gender identity are not academics. They are not in Missouri's learning standards. You'll note that the vast majority of concerns pertain to language arts lessons; not history classes, as we often hear. You'll also note those topics are not on MAP tests. No surprise, then, with Covid restrictions, that proficiency scores are down. Class time was spent on topics, according to teachers, for the sake of culture and diversity vs. proficiency.
We fully support and expect the district to teach the history of our country; the good and the bad. Our children need to know about slavery and Jim Crow laws. They do not need books or lesson assignments that perpetuate the ongoing narrative in our country that says our country and its institutions are racist; that says whether you succeed or not depends on your race and gender. That is telling them what to think, instead of how to think. It is also a terrible, negative message. We should be lifting up our children, and, showing them they can go around, over, or through any obstacles. We should show them that hard work does matter.
In Rockwood classrooms, we need more emphasis on learning what the state of Missouri says our kids need to know. We want every child to succeed academically. Clearly, "teaching to the test" is not a factor when, in some schools, only 3 out of every 10 kids did well enough on the tests to be considered proficient. We need to remove agenda, politics and ideology from the classroom setting. Let's stop the overreach into areas parents want to handle at home.
Thank you for stopping by this blog.
What can you do?
Vote April 5th for school board candidates that will insist that the district sticks to academics.
