UPDATE: ROCKWOOD TEACHER DIDN'T KNOW THAT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL SPANISH CLASS ASSIGNMENT INCLUDES THE WORDS BISEXUAL AND NONBINARY.
LaSalle Springs principal Aaron Wilken has told parents the 7th grade Spanish teacher did not know the words were on the slide.
It was not part of Rockwood curriculum. Instead, it was an extra resource she chose for the kids to visit online for extra practice.
The question was to translate a paragraph about characteristics of a Spanish sitcom star (believed to be Sara Ramirez).
The words include "bisexual" and "non-binary" and the purpose was to explain that the character, Sara, did not use binary pronouns like he or she.
Wilken says the teacher didn't know those words were in the questions, is mortified, and, won't use that slide/lesson again.

A Rockwood mom is bothered by this slide from her son's 7th grade Spanish class at LaSalle Springs middle school.It reads, in Spanish:
"Como Callie, Sara es una persona bisexual. Elle Tambien es una persona no binaria. Por eso, Sara no utiliza pronombres binarios como el o ella en espanol."
A simple online Spanish to English translator shows it in English:
"Like Callie, Sara is a bisexual person. Elle is also a non-binary person. For this reason, Sara does not use binary pronouns like he or she in Spanish."
There's some confusion about whether, it was a slide only teachers saw.
The mom of that student says:
"He did the assignment. He saw it and showed it to me on his student canvas."
Look closely. We've blacked out the name of the student to protect the student's identity.
It was clearly shown on the student's screen.
Multiple parents have reached out to the principal at La Salle Springs. Principal Aaron Wilken told them he is looking into it.
