CONTROVERSY OVER A TRANSWOMAN AT ELLISVILLE GYM SHINES A LIGHT ON MISSOURI DRIVER'S LICENSE FORM

According to news reports, a spokesperson for Lifetime Fitness said the gym was following Missouri law when it allowed a biological man to use the women's locker room, because it says female on his driver's license. 

Some gym-goers at Lifetime Fitness West County had complained about the man, who is a trans woman. A trans woman is a biological man who identifies as a woman.

Apparently, the trans woman recently made the driver's license change, legally. 

That license change is now drawing scrutiny because a gender change can "easily" be done on a Missouri driver's license with the form seen below.

The person filling out the form checks a box and signs, agreeing that the gender change is not for fraudulent purposes. In another section, a medical doctor or social service provider signs, confirming that it is believed the gender identity will persist.

Nothing about whether hormones or surgeries are required is referenced on the form. 

The latest: The social media account for the trans woman posted today (Monday) that the gym membership has now been revoked, after confusion about violence on that person's social media posts. More below.

Missouri State Representative Justin Sparks, who is running in Tuesday's primary, held a press conference at the Lifetime Fitness site Friday, calling for an investigation into what happened in the gym and into the process that changes one's gender on a driver's license.

It should be noted that the trans woman, Eris Montano, has publicly posted about undergoing gender transition and about the controversy at Lifetime Fitness, including that the gym revoked Montano's membership Monday.
