MATH CLASS : DON'T TRUST POLICE

ROCKWOOD TEACHERS GOT THIS IN
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:

ADD RACIAL PROFILING TO YOUR MATH CLASSES.

13 Police officers were shot in a 24 hour period, yet math teachers have been encouraged to include math projects that make police look bad.

A Eureka High School principal recently shared the suggestions with the school’s math teachers. The materials that were shared show a project on racial profiling that used stop and frisk statistics.

The materials came from professional development presentations.

An employee who disagreed with the information leaked the email that included the suggestions.

This, at a time when violence against police is up and the Fraternal Order of Police is concerned that overall hot rhetoric is creating a distrust of police. That rhetoric has been in Rockwood's language arts lesson content  as well.

The PDF referenced gives ways teachers can make their classrooms more “culturally responsive” and included this link: Bringing a Culturally Responsive Lens to Math Class
