ROCKWOOD RESPONSE TO PRINCIPAL WHO CALLED PARENTS "MISINFORMED," "CLOSE-MINDED" RE: "PRIVILEGE" IN LESSON CONTENT

Rockwood's outgoing superintendent gave us a response about the associate principal at Eureka High School, who disparaged parents that were questioning lesson content. (She is still employed there as associate principal.)

"This issue has been well investigated and actions taken as part of a personnel process last year and we are not at liberty to discuss personnel issues, processes or actions with relation to either existing or past employees."

Here's Dr. Tim Ricker's full response:

We also reached out to the associate principal, Jennifer Strauser, who wrote the email at issue. We did not get a response from her.

Here's her full email. It was her reply, a year ago, to the initial (now infamous) email that told teachers and principals how to hide lesson content so parents could no longer see what they had been asking about.

Note: "Shelley" is referenced in the second full paragraph. Rockwood's staff directory shows two employees named Shelley. One is in transportation and appears to be a bus driver. The other is Dr. Shelley Willott, Assistant Superintendent of Learning Support Services.

Dr. Willott is in charge of curriculum for Rockwood.

Note: The lesson content parents questioned was in language arts classes for middle and high schoolers.

WHY NOW?
The email was discovered in a records request. Although it was written a year ago, it has just now been made public because a "concerned citizen" recently reported it to Parents Defending Education.

Parents Defending Education is "a national grassroots organization working to reclaim our schools from activists imposing harmful agendas. Through network and coalition building, investigative reporting, litigation, and engagement on local, state, and national policies, we are fighting indoctrination in the classroom — and promoting the restoration of a healthy, non-political education for our kids."
