ATTEMPTS TO BAN CRT FROM SCHOOLS IN MISSOURI

IS A BAN NECESSARY?

Without a law saying what is and isn't allowed, there's nothing that prevents schools or teachers from using training materials, books, or daily lesson materials that include beliefs and tenets associated with Critical Race Theory, whether it's intentional or not.

They've already done it.

For a quick example, see the cover photo of this site. It is a page from a book that was removed from a kindergarten classroom in Rockwood. It's called, "Our Skin: A First Conversation About Race."

That book includes beliefs associated with CRT.
One of them: White people made up race to benefit White people. (It's not biological.)

For other examples, see Agenda vs. Academics.

THE LEGISLATION

Here are two different bills-now-amendments that have been discussed this legislative session in Missouri. The bottom one appears to be favored by lawmakers.

For a quick glance at what might be affected or banned in Rockwood, go here.

PROPOSED

From Missouri Representative Nick Schroer this session: House Bill 1474

Note: This is not the final wording.

Also proposed, from Representative Shamed Dogan, is this amendment to House Bill 1858: 4070H03.08H

Missouri is one of at least 42 states that have already banned, or are considering banning, concepts related to CRT in schools. Here's more detail on that.
