It was highly anticipated because parents angry with a previous BOE vote were expected to attend the meeting after taking their frustration to local news media.
The parents made the slurs and used the vulgarity during their patron comments, as they expressed their disapproval of the vote that took place October 6th. That vote rejected 3 contracts of companies that provide empowerment services for students of color.
One of those companies has a connection to a Rockwood administrator and an owner who had multiple warrants for her arrest for unpaid traffic fines. For more on the companies and their controversial no-bid contracts, see our previous post.
-----------------
"C U NEXT TUESDAY" is a euphemism for vulgar slang referencing a woman's genitals.
If that's still not clear, it rhymes with punt.
The speaker, Danielle Meert, ended her patron comment with the "C U next Tuesday" phrase after she made a series of disparaging remarks against BOE director Jessica Clark. Meert's remarks were otherwise what appear to be intentional sarcasm to show she did not support the BOE's 4-3 vote last week to reject the 3 contracts.
Another speaker, Justin Dixon (who is white), referred to director Jessica Clark (who is Black) as a "documented bigot." He also referred to parents as bigots more than once.
Sally Nichol said the BOE should be reasonable instead of racist, when expressing her disapproval about the vote at the October 6th BOE meeting, and, Sloan Cowell loosely compared parents who supported the vote to holocaust deniers, people who think the world is flat, and stated that "we all know" there are several racist parents in Rockwood.
Cowell previously participated in smearing BOE director Izzy Imig when she was a candidate in the April 2022 election. As the image below shows, Cowell agreed with Jennifer Marie that Imig "set up" her sister for murder to save herself. This was their mischaracterization of Imig's known run-in with actual terrorists while living in Iraq and helping our U.S. military.

Side note: Jennifer Marie is Jennifer Biermann, who was outed last April as the impetus for news coverage of alleged threats against Rockwood staff, for which no proof was ever produced. A records request showed she made claims in emails to the district that were never supported with evidence.
There were 27 patron speakers in all.
15 speakers criticized the vote from the last meeting that rejected the three contracts. 11 speakers thanked the Board of Education Directors for that same rejection, and cited the arrest warrants related to one of those rejected contracts, as well as problems discovered in the bid process. Another speaker spoke about the NEA.
Among the 11 speakers who spoke in support of the vote to reject these contracts, most referenced the arrest warrants, conflict of interest, and lack of competitive bidding that had been discovered.
Rockwood's BOE rejected the above contracts October 6th by a vote of 4-3. The contracts totaled more than $80,000. At the meeting, board members stated they were voting no because the 3 vendors do not serve all of Rockwood's students.
HEAR IT FOR YOURSELF
